OpenMI Workshop

27th - 29th September 2005
Munich, Germany

Transportation

Airport

Munich's airport Franz-Josef Strauss (http://www.munich-airport.de/EN/) is conveniently connected to central Munich with two S-Bahn lines S1 and S8. Trains leave the airport every 10 minutes and both serve Hauptbahnhof and all central Munich stations.

http://www.munich-airport.de/EN/Areas/Consumer/Verkehrsanbindung/an_ab/Bahn_EN_Portal/index.html

You can take either train to get to Munich. When returning to the airport however, if you choose line S1, please make sure you check the destination of the train carriage you are in, as in Neufahrn half of the train seperates and continues to Freising and half of it goes to the airport!

Tickets

Munich is divided into two transport zones, inner (Innenraum) and outer (Außenraum). All the main attractions are in the inner zone whereas the airport is in the outer zone.

The most convenient tickets are the 1-day or 3-day ones. If you will be travelling within Munich take an Innenraum ticket but if you will be going to the airport take a Gesamtnetz one.

Getting to the hotel

From the central train station (Hauptbahnhof) it is only two stops to the Odeonsplatz, taking line U4 or U5.

From the airport (Flughafen) you can take S-Bahn lines S1 or S2 to the Marienplatz station (about 45 minutes) and then take the U-Bahn lines U3 or U6 to the Odeonsplatz.

Getting to the workshop venue

The OpenMI workshop will take place at the

Bavarian Water Management Agency,
Lazarettstr. 67, Munich.

You can get there from the hotel in about 15 minutes taking the U-Bahn.

  • From Odeonsplatz take U3 or U6 to Sendlinger Tor and then change to line U1 until Mailingerstr. Use the Lazarettstr./Nymphenburger Str. exit.
  • Alternatively from Odeonsplatz take U4 or U5 to Hauptbahnhof and then change to U1 until Mailingerstr.
