Accomodation & Transport

  • Delft can be reached easily by train (ca. 1 hour), with just one change of trains.
    a ) Take a train in the direction of Leiden /Den Haag HS (leaving from track 5/6)
    b) Change either in Leiden or Den Haag HS and pick a fast train or a slow train towards Rotterdam. These trains stop in Delft.

  • Tickets (7 euro one-way, 2nd class) can be bought with cash money at the counter or with creditcard at the new machines having touch-screens.

How to reach WL Delft Hydraulics ?


WL Delft Hydraulics can be reached by bus 129 direction Rotterdam CS. The trip takes 16 min. starting from Delft Central Station. After a short trip through the University quarter, the bus turns right at a nuclear facility, and left at a light blue flat (Aerospace). Get down at the first stop 200 m after the Radex building (left hand), cross the street. The Laboratory is in front. Follow the signs reception.

In the morning busses leave the bus station at 8.21, 8.37 and 9.07. Note that the 8.37 bus may be crowded with students. In that case it will not pick you up from any bus stop between bus station and the university. Also pay attention to the final destination; not all 129 busses continue towards Delft Hydraulics/Rotterdam.

Busses and hotels in Delft


Hotels in the city centre are within walking distance (10-15 min.) from the central station. Currently, the bus station ‘In de Veste ' (see map) is a big construction site. The bus station has been placed by a stop at the ‘ Zusterlaan '. Crowded busses may not pick you up from this bus stop.

Hotel information is available on www.delfthotels.nl . Visitors of Hotel Johannes Vermeer, Hotel Juliana and Dutch hotel receive a discount, if they report that they are a guest of Delft Hydraulics.

How to pay in the bus ?

Dutch busses work with so-called ' strippenkaarten ' (a card with zones to be stamped). 2-3 zone cards can be bought in the bus (between 2 and 4 euros). 15-zone cards (ca. 12 euros) can be bought at train stations. The trip from the city centre to WL Delft Hydraulics is 2 zones.
